It's a very quiet and very meditative song dedicated to New Orleans — about New Orleans. Jacknife [Lee] is great as a producer, because he saw that we were struggling with what is a very quiet song. We were standing really far away from each other in the room, and it was hard not only to actually physically hear each other, but it felt dispersed. He brought us into the middle, and instantly, of course, the song worked.

Como é que se esquece alguém que se ama? Como é que se esquece alguém que nos faz falta e que nos custa mais lembrar que viver? Quando alguém se vai embora de repente como é que se faz para ficar? Quando alguém morre, quando alguém se separa - como é que se faz quando a pessoa de quem se precisa já lá não está?


As pessoas têm de morrer; os amores de acabar. As pessoas têm de partir, os sítios têm de ficar longe uns dos outros, os tempos têm de mudar Sim, mas como se faz? Como se esquece? Devagar. É preciso esquecer devagar. Se uma pessoa tenta esquecer-se de repente, a outra pode ficar-lhe para sempre. Podem pôr-se processos e acções de despejo a quem se tem no coração, fazer os maiores escarcéus, entrar nas maiores peixeiradas, mas não se podem despejar de repente. Elas não saem de lá. Estúpidas! É preciso aguentar. Já ninguém está para isso, mas é preciso aguentar. A primeira parte de qualquer cura é aceitar-se que se está doente. É preciso paciência. O pior é que vivemos tempos imediatos em que já ninguém aguenta nada. Ninguém aguenta a dor. De cabeça ou do coração. Ninguém aguenta estar triste. Ninguém aguenta estar sozinho. Tomam-se conselhos e comprimidos. Procuram-se escapes e alternativas. Mas a tristeza só há-de passar entristecendo-se. Não se pode esquecer alguém antes de terminar de lembrá-lo. Quem procura evitar o luto, prolonga-o no tempo e desonra-o na alma. A saudade é uma dor que pode passar depois de devidamente doída, devidamente honrada. É uma dor que é preciso aceitar, primeiro, aceitar.


É preciso aceitar esta mágoa esta moinha, que nos despedaça o coração e que nos mói mesmo e que nos dá cabo do juízo. É preciso aceitar o amor e a morte, a separação e a tristeza, a falta de lógica, a falta de justiça, a falta de solução. Quantos problemas do mundo seriam menos pesados se tivessem apenas o peso que têm em si , isto é, se os livrássemos da carga que lhes damos, aceitando que não têm solução.


Não adianta fugir com o rabo à seringa. Muitas vezes nem há seringa. Nem injecção. Nem remédio. Nem conhecimento certo da doença de que se padece. Muitas vezes só existe a agulha.


Dizem-nos, para esquecer, para ocupar a cabeça, para trabalhar mais, para distrair a vista, para nos divertirmos mais, mas quanto mais conseguimos fugir, mais temos mais tarde de enfrentar. Fica tudo à nossa espera. Acumula-se-nos tudo na alma, fica tudo desarrumado.


O esquecimento não tem arte. Os momentos de esquecimento, conseguidos com grande custo, com comprimidos e amigos e livros e copos, pagam-se depois em condoídas lembranças a dobrar. Para esquecer é preciso deixar correr o coração, de lembrança em lembrança, na esperança de ele se cansar.

"Noto com desagrado que se tem desenvolvido muito em Portugal uma modalidade desportiva que julgara ter caído em desuso depois da revolução de Abril. Situa-se na área da ginástica corporal e envolve complexos exercícios contorcionista em que cada jogador procura, por todos os meios ao seu alcance, correr e prostrar-se de forma a lamber o cu de um jogador mais poderoso do que ele.

Este cu pode ser o cu de um superior hierárquico, de um ministro, de um agente da polícia ou de um artista. O objectivo do jogo é identificá-los, lambê-los e recolher os respectivos prémios. Os prémios podem ser em dinheiro, em promoção profissional ou em permuta. À medida que vai lambendo os cus, vai ascendendo ou descendendo na hierarquia.

Antes do 25 de Abril esta modalidade era mais rudimentar. Era praticada por amadores, muitos em idade escolar, e conhecida prosaicamente como «engraxanço».

Os chefes de repartição engraxavam os chefes de serviço, os alunos engraxavam os professores, os jornalistas engraxavam os ministros, as donas de casa engraxavam os médicos da caixa, etc. ..

Mesmo assim, eram raros os portugueses com feitio para passar graxa. Havia poucos engraxadores. Diga-se porém, em abono da verdade, que os poucos que havia engraxavam imenso. Nesse tempo, «engraxar» era uma actividade socialmente menosprezada.

O menino que engraxasse a professora tinha de enfrentar depois o escárnio da turma. O colunista que tecesse um grande elogio ao Presidente do Conselho era ostracizado pelos colegas. Ninguém gostava de um engraxador.

Hoje tudo isso mudou. O engraxanço evoluiu ao ponto de tornar-se irreconhecível. Foi-se subindo na escala de subserviência, dos sapatos até ao cu.

O engraxador foi promovido a lambe-botas e o lambe-botas a lambe-cu. Não é preciso realçar a diferença, em termos de subordinação hierárquica e flexibilidade de movimentos, entre engraxar uns sapatos e lamber um cu.

Para fazer face à crescente popularidade do desporto, importaram-se dos Estados Unidos, campeão do mundo na modalidade, as regras e os estatutos da American Federation of Ass-licking and Brown-nosing. Os praticantes portugueses puderam assim esquecer os tempos amadores do engraxanço e aperfeiçoarem-se no desenvolvimento profissional do Culambismo.

(...) Tudo isto teria graça se os culambistas portugueses fossem tão mal tratados e sucedidos como os engraxadores de outrora. O pior é que a nossa sociedade não só aceita o culambismo como forma prática de subir na vida, como começa a exigi-lo como habilitação profissional.

O culambismo compensa. Sobreviver sem um mínimo de conhecimentos de culambismo é hoje tão difícil como vencer na vida sem saber falar inglês."

Lucian Freud nació en (Berlín el 8 de diciembre de 1922). Pintor y grabador británico. Sus padres fueron Lucie Brasch y el arquitecto Ernst Ludwig Freud, hijo del creador del psicoanálisis, Sigmund Freud. Tuvo dos hermanos: el político Clement Raphael Freud y Stephan Gabriel Freud. Su sobrina, Emma Freud es una prominente productora de radio británica.

Lucian Freud 'Portraits' is an analysis of the artist as seen through the eyes of those who have been best placed to study him - his sitters. Over a period of two years, film-maker Jake Auerbach and Freud's biographer William Feaver filmed many of Freud's subjects, ranging from the late Duke of Devonshire and the now Dowager Duchess of Devonshire to fellow painters David Hockney and Celia Paul; from friends such as Brigadier Andrew Parker Bowles to ex-lovers, daughters and grand-daughters.

OS ANOS DA PROLES WALL - Em 1984 Paula Rego foi convidada a participar na exposição colectiva Nineteen Eighty-Four preparada pelo Camden Arts Center para assinalar a edição do livro homónimo de George Orwell, que em 1948 tinha escrito um...a poderosa utopia crítica para um futuro próximo. A artista prepara uma pintura de grandes dimensões que designa por Proles Wall, resgatando para a narrativa a designação usada pelo escritor para se referir a proletariado mas sobretudo a complexa estrutura de tensões e relações de poder reveladas numa sociedade autoritária e auto-vigiada, agora revista de modo pessoal e transformador na compulsão do desenho.

Proles Wall encerra e recomeça um novo ciclo de trabalhos na produção de Paula Rego. Culmina a série das Óperas, construídas em grande escala a partir dos libretos nos primeiros anos da década de oitenta, numa obra de dimensão impar que une o sentido da obra literária que lhe serviu de base ao seu olhar atento e crítico sobre a sociedade contemporânea. E projecta novos trabalhos como as séries Dentro e Fora do Mar ou Vivian Girls, soluções narrativas densas de personagens e enredos truncados em que a cor surge intensa, directa, como elemento constitutivo do desenho e da composição.

Esta exposição, a terceira temporária dedicada a Paula Rego, assenta na presença axial de Proles Wall, um conjunto de 10 painéis da Colecção do Centro de Arte Moderna da Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian, colocada em diálogo com obras da Casa das Histórias.

António Pedro - Intervenção artística em Caminha

Criação de Painel de Azulejos, decoração da fachada e de interiores para o BAR DO JOÃO, uma intervenção artística de pendor cultural, marcante no panorama local, assinada por António Pedro em 1955.
Desde há vários anos preservada devido ao proprietário da Garrafeira Baco que por sua iniciativa preservou e estima a obra em referência.

A CDL e o seu director que esteve na inuguração desta obra, uma vez que seu pai era amigo de António Pedro, não podiam deixar de contribuir com este clip vídeo para situar melhor a magnifica exposição e em particular o seu catálogo, patente na Galeria Municipal de Caminha que convidamos a visitar. Na edição do JL de 30 de Dezembro 2009 - A ler - "Carta Persa" de José Augusto França que para além da evocação pessoal dadas as relações muito próximas e a colaboração que mantiveram no plano artístico sublinhadas, no que se refere a esta intervenção, pelas visitas de JAF a Moledo nos anos 50 e ainda poema não publicado denominado "Romance da Móia Móia, escrito para cantiga de cegos em Setembro de 1951.

António Pedro da Costa (Cidade da Praia, 9 de Dezembro de 1909 — Moledo, Caminha, 17 de Agosto de 1966) foi um encenador, escritor e artista plástico português.
Frequentou o Instituto Nuno Álvares, da Companhia de Jesus, em La Guardia, após o que ingressou na Universidade de Lisboa, tendo frequentado a Faculdade de Direito e a Faculdade de Letras, não concluíndo nenhum dos cursos. Foi para Paris, onde chegou a estudar no Instituto de Arte e Arqueologia da Universidade de Sorbonne.
Com uma forte ligação ao teatro, foi director do Teatro Apolo (Lisboa) em 1949 e director, figurinista e encenador do Teatro Experimental do Porto entre 1953 e 1961. Entre 1944 e 1945, foi crítico de arte e cronista da BBC em Londres.
Percursor do movimento surrealista português, na década de 1940, ao lado de Mário Cesariny, integrou a I Exposição Surrealista em Lisboa. Viveu os últimos anos em Moledo, uma praia junto a Caminha.
Grande parte da sua obra como pintor perdeu-se aquando dum incêndio no seu atelier.
